Well, I'm back from a whirlwind adventure in Surfers Paradise, Australia, at the Romance Writer's of Australia's annual conference. I enjoyed a 1950's themed cocktail party hosted by Harlequin, were present at the exciting launch of Penguin's new e-imprint, were awed by the vivacious key note speaker, Eloisa James, and applauded the many wonderful writers who received awards at the 'diamonds are forever' dinner, including my dear friend, Carla Caruso, for her book City Glitter.
My pitches were successful, resulting in Hachette Australia and Cornerstone Agency requesting samples of my manuscript, Perception. Now I have to polish and send samples of our work, then nervously await a response.
The Saturday and Sunday were filled with inspiring and educational workshops, but the 2 real highlights for me were spending 1/2 hour chatting to the esteemed Valeri Parv and meeting my hero of romantic-suspense, Helene Young.
I'm sure every single one of the 300 odd women at the conference have returned home brimming with inspiration
and ideas. Cheers ladies and thank you to the many industry experts who leant their time and expertise to help us eager authors.
